Dora Bones begins this act as an enthusiastic young woman being educated in the ways of midcentury housewifery. She wears a crisp white blouse with a baby blue necktie, and a long plaid skirt. She quickly grows bored and dismayed by the lessons she is being presented with (voiceover audio), and daydreams of stripping off her clothes and learning the moves of legendary burlesque peelers. First we hear a snippet of the striptease classic Pink Pussycat while Dora removes her necktie, and then in Dora’s second daydream we hear St. James Infirmary as she imagines removing her skirt in time to the music. Finally Dora is fully disillusioned with the life of domesticity in front of her, tosses aside her homemaker guide books, and marches onto a makeshift stage where she frees herself of the last of her schoolgirl clothes. We then see her in full classic burlesque costume, and she performers a slow and sultry strip-tease to the Artie Shaw classic, Mysterioso.
